Latte on the Journey

Hello and Welcome!

I'm Jacqueline

Engineer by day, a travel curator and food lover by everything else.

I started this blog because I love the process of planning a journey almost as much as the trip itself: curating seamless itineraries that maximise every single day.

As an avid traveler and dedicated food lover, every itinerary here has been road-tested. I’ve walked every route, eaten at every local spot, and sipped my way through cafe and restaurants menu before it makes it onto this site.

My approach

I build around three things: budget, pacing and genuine interest fit.

My goal

To help independent travellers plan with confidence and actually enjoy the process.

Whether you’re headed out solo, with a partner, or dragging along friends and family, you’ll find real, practical advice here – tested by myself.

I am based in sunny + humid Singapore, though I am born in Malaysia. By day you’ll find me working as an engineer – which probably explains why my travel itineraries look like project plans, colour-coded and all.

My love for solo travel started almost on a whim. In my 20s, a work trip ended and I had a few extra days on hand. Instead of flying straight home, I decided to stay and explore a place I barely knew my own. That short stretch of figuring things out solo lit something in me. I came home, researched obsessively and engineered myself a flexible itinerary I could actually use. That was a beginning of a very long addiction.

Somewhere in those early solo trips, another habit crept in: ordering coffee (usually latte) in every single city, just to see how it compares. Turns out coffee is surprisingly good way to get a feel for a place – the pace, the people, the little rituals. It’s become a bit of a ritual of my own now (and my partner) and this is one of the reason this blog is called Latte on the Journey.

Since then, I’ve travelled to China, Thailand, US, Philippines, Japan, Korea, Vietnam, New Zealand and the list still continues. Multiple countries, different lattes, every itinerary self-planned and self-tested before publish in this blog. First solo, then with my partner, then with my family and in-laws (each require a different kind of itinerary strategy).

Writing has always been part of the picture as I ran a little blog back in high school and never quite lost the habit. It only felt right to bring the two together: documenting my travels in a way that helps other travellers move through the world with a little more confidence, and a lot less second-guessing.
